With safety being the
number one priority to the UK railway network, this
mission-critical solution provides vital management
information to rail maintenance depots across the country.

Comech
calibration and metrology laboratories provide a comprehensive range
of calibration support products and services. They required a
 mission-critical asset management system to maintain calibration
records for railway maintenance equipment.
We implemented a
two-component system:
 |
a LAN-based
data-entry system using Microsoft Access (located at the
client's premises), and |
|
a series of
Active Server Pages (ASP) to allow the maintenance depots to
view the status of their equipment via the web |
With rail safety
being the number one priority, it was essential that the system
provided accurate, reliable information relating to the calibration
status of essential vehicle maintenance equipment. On-line reports
detail equipment that is due to be collected for calibration from
the rail depots. The rail depots are then able to view images and
calibration certificates for equipment that has passed the stringent
testing. The calibration history and cost of calibration is
maintained for each item and is available for view on-line.
